Climate Change Focus Group
The Climate Change Focus Group Mission will reflect the concerns of the members about the environmental, political, and health impact of climate change on the planet and its inhabitants. We will strive to inform, educate, and persuade our fellow citizens about the reality of and imminent dangers related to climate change. We will be taking action to support political leaders who are striving to control global pollution and carbon usage, as well as making our voices heard to convince climate change deniers in public office. Participation in the campaign to raise awareness of climate change is a necessary action for all who dwell on this planet, regardless of political affiliation.
The scientific evidence is clear and irrefutable — human activity is causing our planet to warm at an alarmingly high rate. Not only is this warming climate trend happening right now, it could have serious outcomes on our food supply, lead to mass migration and conflict, and threaten the economic stability of our country.
We will connect with people and our legislators to convince skeptics that action is needed today to mitigate the effects of climate warming. Increasingly variable weather patterns as well as warming climate threaten food production and costs. Coastal cities face increasing flooding from storms: seawalls are not a solution. The carbon footprint of the earth needs to be reduced to slow climate change that is already happening.
